Staying in a London Flat this Christmas

THIS Christmas, spending Christmas in a London flat is surely a good idea. There are lots of good flats anywhere – starting from Hyde Park where Elton John concerts are held – but the most important thing to consider is this: London flats are pricier as you get closer to the city center. Another thing to consider is that even though you don’t need to have reservations for flats, you still need to reserve flights in coming to London this Christmas. There are lots of international airports servicing flights from around the world here in London – Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton and London Airport – but even then, if you haven’t reserved for flights, then forget about a Christmas vacation. Therefore, this article is intended for people who already have reserved a Christmas flight to London. It’s not like you’ll be coming here on a road trip since London is not located in mainland Europe. It is located in the Island of Great Britain.

If you’re Roman Catholic, you may want to buy the latest album sung by the London Oratory School Schola which is a Christmas album. In fact, it now enjoys heavy rotation among music stations circulating in London. You may want to enjoy the track at the flat that you are staying. Just make sure the flat is equipped with all the conventional amenities associated with a typical modern urbane flat – cable television, high speed wired and wireless Internet connection, etc. Other flats even extend their helping hand. They have already installed nurseries in London flats. This is for the convenience of honeymooners who are vacationing in Christmas here in London. This honeymooning couples may already have a child or two already but they want another honeymoon. For that, they don’t want to be disturbed. And so, a nursery is definitely convenient for people who have children. These nurseries are staffed with experienced British nannies.

Now let’s get back discussing about the London Oratory School Scola Christmas album. It also features a Zimbabwean children’s choir so if you buy the album at any of the music retail stores near the flat that you are living, you are contributing something for the poor children of Zimbabwe. After all, the album is dedicated to them. And that’s one of the nicer things here in London. All flats here are in close proximity with retail stores. It doesn’t mean to say though that these are located necessarily at the heart of London itself. Even suburbs are bustling.

London is not just for the Europeans though. If you come here all the way across the Atlantic from LA for instance, then welcome to the Island of Great Britain, whose inhabitants have formerly conquered the United States and shaped it to what it is today. You may find London weird because driving is at the right side of the road. That’s what a tourist must watch once you’ll be here. Another thing to watch out for is in using the British pound as the currency. Anyway, most London flats accept currency in dollars.

 Spending Halloween in London

THE rule of thumb here in London is to stay away from the center as much as possible because it is a lot cheaper when one is staying in the suburbs. There is no other city in Europe to spend Halloween this season except in London. Although London is not located in the European mainland, its culture is so typically Westernized and Halloween is definitely celebrated here.

But before coming here to spend Halloween, you must book your flight right now. Remember, Halloween is just a few days away and Heathrow is the busiest airport in Europe. This just shows that London is a hot destination all year round and nothing can make it unoccupied, not even Halloween. Aside from the flights which you must book as a round trip back home otherwise you’ll be stranded here, you must also book which flat you are staying. There are some excellent places to stay which are quite elegant but at the same time affordable – places such as Westminster and the Hyde Park, where rock stars like Elton John and Death Cab for Cutie hold their concerts.

A typical Halloween here in London is usually concentrated in clubs. Guests are attired in spooky costumes and the most innovative costume worn will get a prize such as novelty items or even a dinner for two at a cruise yacht around River Thames or maybe a free ride at the London Eye or even a free tour around the public portions of the Buckingham or Westminster Palace. You may even be treated with a one-night stay at a five-star hotel here in London.

The most premier of these yearly events is The Haunt, an all-Halloween themed lingerie party at the London Club. This is where spooky meets sexy. Imagine being confronted with the most seductive vampire alive. You can only find her at the London Club in 177 Queens Ave. Aside from getting down and dirty, participants of The Haunt are likewise served with cocktails for two straight hours. Drink first so you can strip yourself to all inhibitions.

Speaking of the London Eye, it is nowhere being scary than being treated a ride at the London Eye in the middle of Halloween Night. Because the London Eye is decorated with lights according to the celebration, it is also adorned as spooky during this time of the year. But if you’re not ready to go to London yet this year, then just do a virtual tour of the city this Halloween. There’s a new game coming up, Hellgate: London that will be released by Electronic Arts in time for Halloween. In the game, London is featured as the gate leading to hell and players slay demons amidst the spectacular view of the city. The settings are all futuristic though as the game is supposed to take place in 2038.

So what are you waiting for? Come here in London and celebrate Halloween. Who knows, it will be your best Halloween ever? Go log in to Expedia, Travelocity or to your favorite travel agency. The clock is ticking.
